What is it about space?

I’m always filled with wonder looking up into the night sky.

This painting explores the cosmic nature of humanity.

Inner space.

Outer space.

The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in ur blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.

Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Maybe it is because the origins of physical life are strewn throughout the solar system.

Maybe it is because buried deep within our consciousness we know there is a link to the infinite.

Mystery

Cosmos started as a 5 ft x 8 foot drawing…and has evolved into a painting!

I want more depth of color and control of detail than I can get with chalk.

I originally started this piece as a chalk drawing and you can see the ghost of the first image in her face and neck.

I’ll keep posting pics as the work progresses.

Stay tuned!

P.S. Being in a creative phase rocks!
