There is a point where a print stops being a copy of something and starts being its own small original.
Lux Editions are that point.
Each Heart of the Mountain LUX edition begins as a fine art giclée, then is individually hand-gilded and reworked with paint in the studio — carrying the same process as the Atelier line, taken one step further, until the piece becomes something closer to a hybrid than a reproduction.
This is not embellishment added to a print. It is a second act of creation, bringing the piece as close as possible to standing again in the presence of the original.
Created for those who want not a copy of the work, but a piece with a living surface.

“The work of the eyes is done. Go now and do the heart-work on the images imprisoned within you.”
~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Heart of the Mountain was born from a daily view: the twin talus slopes of Diller Canyon on Mount Shasta’s western face, curving into a shape a friend once called a heart. What began as a landscape became something more — an attempt to hold a vast, impersonal love; a lifting of the heart; an energy both rooted and transcendent.
The composition centers on that heart-shaped canyon at the mountain’s base, but the sky above carries the deeper structure: the Squaring of the Circle, an ancient symbol of the union of heaven and earth, surrounded by two hexagons forming a twelve-pointed shape of wholeness. A single white axis runs from earth to sky through the painting’s center — the energetic channel felt in stillness with the mountain. At the base, gold-leafed drips mark the underworlds: mystery, roots, the unseen.
Heart of the Mountain is for anyone learning to hold stillness and density — the return to ground after a season of movement, the pause at a peak before the next ascent, or simply the daily practice of coming back to what’s solid and central inside. It offers the same lift the mountain offers: a vertical expansion that asks nothing of you but presence.
At ten pieces, this is the more accessible of the two September Lux editions, and a good entry point if you’re new to collecting at this level.
