I created this painting while reading about Plato’s theory of forms. The concept that archetypes from celestial realms shape what we see in the creation. In this painting a fractal octopus is entranced by the light of a friendly star on an alien planet. The star metaphorically represents the archetype, and I used a 2d projection of a 24 cell, (also called an octaplex,) to represent the form – the archetypal manifesting force behind the octopus. A combination of an ancient Greek concept and fanciful astro-biological themes.
