BLUE GANESHA

Originally created as a private commission, Blue Ganesha portrays the beloved remover of obstacles seated in a radiant palace of quiet abundance.

In this work, Ganesha appears with blue skin, a color traditionally associated with the infinite — the vastness of sky and cosmos — symbolizing divine consciousness, wisdom, and boundless presence. The deep blues of the figure echo through the architectural setting: an Indian arch and two slender pillars adorned with subtle floral motifs, all set against a luminous field of gold.

Ganesha sits upon a richly cushioned dias, adorned with intricate ornaments and crowned with an elaborate headdress. As a four-armed form, each element carries symbolic meaning:

• the lotus represents spiritual awakening and purity,

• the bowl of sweets (modaka) symbolizes the sweetness of spiritual wisdom,

• the prayer beads reflect meditation and devotion,

• and the raised hand offers blessing and protection to those who seek guidance.

At Ganesha’s feet sits Mushika, the mouse, his traditional companion and vehicle. In Hindu symbolism the mouse represents the restless mind — brought into harmony when placed in service to higher awareness.

In the corner of the palace courtyard, a small potted orange tree quietly bears fruit. Oranges traditionally symbolize prosperity, vitality, and good fortune, reinforcing the auspicious presence of Ganesha within this sacred space.
