Capturing the spirit of Mt Shasta through art

“Faces of the Mountain”, is a creative journey that draws upon my experiences of meditation, spirituality, and deep connection with the natural world. Inspired by the beauty and unique spiritual presence of Mt. Shasta in Northern California, this project aims to reveal the mountain’s essence through a series of 10-12 paintings. Each piece will embody a distinct state of consciousness I’ve experienced while immersed in the landscapes of this mighty volcano.

“Heart of the Mountain” was born from that view I see daily from my porch—the twin talus slopes of Diller Canyon curving into a shape my dear friend once called a heart. Since she said it, I can’t unsee it. But more than the mountain’s shape, it’s the feeling that I’ve tried to capture:
A vast, impersonal love.
A lifting of the heart.

“Twilight” is the newest painting in my Faces of the Mountain series, inspired by the view of Mount Shasta from the road near Castle Lake. I’ve camped in this area many times, waking or falling asleep to this view. And it’s often at twilight—this hushed in-between time—that the landscape reveals its most refined presence.
